Afghan Sheeryakh Recipe

Sheeryakh is an Afghani ice cream. This Afghani ice cream is made without using any machine. It is made with milk, cream and sugar. It is one of the popular street foods in Afghanistan. Sheeryakh is used in the Afghani dessert. So the Afghan sheeryakh recipe is-

  1. Normal temperature whole milk ( 4 cups )
  2. Whipping cream ( 2 cups )
  3. Cornstarch ( 1 tbsp )
  4. Cardamom powder ( 1 tsp )
  5. Sugar ( 1 cup or as your taste )
  6. Ground pistachio
  7. Snow
  8. Salt
  • Firstly, put the whole milk, cornstarch, sugar in the pan and stir it very well.
  • Then, cook the whole milk mixture for 2 minutes and cool it down completely.
  • Then, add the whipping cream, cardamom powder into the cooled whole milk and mix it very well with a whisk.
  • Then, again put lots of snow in another pan so that the pan fills with snow fully and pour a lot of salt on the snow very well.
  • Then, put the milk pan on the snow pan.
  • Then, rotate the milk pan continuously until the milk mixture becomes hard.
  • Then, Afghani sheeryakh will be made.
  • Lastly, serve this Afghani sheeryakh with ground pistachio.

Note: We have to stir all the ingredients continuously when cooking.

Easy Afghan Sheeryakh Recipe

If we think of making Afghani sheeryak without a machine is very hassle work then we can also make this dish with a refrigerator which is an easy process. But authentic Afghani sheeryak is made without any machine. So the recipe of this dish is-

  1. Normal temperature whole milk ( 4 cups )
  2. Cold whipping cream ( 1.5 cup )
  3. Cornstarch ( 1 tbsp )
  4. Cardamom powder ( 1 tsp )
  5. Rose water ( 1 tsp )
  6. Sugar ( 1 cup or as your taste )
  7. Ground pistachio or Ground almond
  • Firstly, put the whole milk, cornstarch, sugar in the pan and stir it very well.
  • Then, cook the whole milk mixture for 3 minutes and cool it down completely.
  • Then, add the whipping cream, cardamom powder, rose water into the cooled whole milk and mix it very well with a hand mixer.
  • Then, put the milk mixture in the container and keep it in the refrigerator for 8-10 hours. After 8-10 hours the Afghani sheeryak is ready for eating.
  • Lastly, serve this Afghani sheeryakh with ground pistachio or ground almond.

Dairy Free Afghan Sheeryakh Recipe

Dairy free Afghani sheeryakh recipe is appropriate for vegan dieters. But authentic Afghani sheeryakh is made with cow milk. So the recipe of this dish is-

  1. Normal temperature coconut milk ( 4 cups )
  2. Cold coconut whipping cream ( 1.5 cup )
  3. Cornstarch ( 1 tbsp )
  4. Cardamom powder ( 1 tsp )
  5. Sugar ( 1 cup or as your taste )
  6. Ground pistachio
  • Firstly, put the coconut milk, cornstarch, sugar in the pan and stir it very well.
  • Then, cook the coconut milk mixture for 2 minutes and cool it down completely.
  • Then, add the coconut whipping cream, cardamom powder into the cooled coconut milk and mix it very well with a hand mixer.
  • Then, put the coconut milk mixture in the container and keep it in the refrigerator for 8-10 hours. After 8-10 hours the Afghani sheeryak is ready for eating.
  • Lastly, serve this dairy free Afghani sheeryakh with ground pistachio.
