Sudanese Asida Recipe

Asida is a Sudanese dish that is made with different types of grains flour and water. It is not only a popular dish in Sudan, but also popular dish in other African countries and Middle East countries. It is also called aseed, fufu, ugali and Pap. Each country cooks this food in a different way. Asida is two types- Hot and Sweet. The hot asida is eaten with stew. The sweet asida is eaten with butter, honey or sugar and dates. So the Sudanese asida recipe is-

  1. Corn starch powder ( 1 cup )
  2. Normal temperature water ( 4 cup )
  • Firstly, put the normal temperature water, corn starch powder in the nonstick pan and mix it very well with a whisk.
  • Then, cook the corn and water mixture on medium-low heat until the mixture becomes thick.
  • Then, asida will be made.
  • Then, brush a bowl with oil and put the asida in that bowl.
  • Then, cool down the asida for 10 minutes.
  • Then, flip the asida on a plate.
  • Lastly, serve the asida with Sudanese stew.

Note: We have to stir all the ingredients continuously when cooking.

Tunisian Asida Recipe

Tunisian asida is a sweet dish that is eaten as a breakfast dish in Tunisia. So the recipe of this sweet dish is-

  1. All purpose flour ( 1 cup )
  2. Normal temperature water ( 3.5 cup )
  3. Salt ( 1.5 tsp )
  4. Melted butter ( 3 tbsp )
  5. Honey ( 1 tbsp )
  6. Sugar ( 1 tbsp )
  • Firstly, put the normal temperature water, all purpose flour, salt in the nonstick pan and mix it very well with a whisk.
  • Then, cook the flour and water mixture on medium-low heat until the mixture becomes thick.
  • Then, asida will be made.
  • Lastly, serve this asida with melted butter, honey and sugar.

Note: We have to stir all the ingredients continuously when cooking.

Emirati Asida Recipe

Emirati asida is a sweet dish. Emirati people eat this dish as dessert. So the recipe of this dessert dish is-

  1. All purpose flour ( 1 cup )
  2. Normal temperature water ( 5 cup )
  3. Sugar ( 1.4 cup or as your taste )
  4. Ghee ( 3 tbsp )
  5. Saffron threads ( 1.5 tsp )
  6. Rose water ( 2 tsp )
  7. Cardamom powder ( 1.5 tsp )
  • Firstly, put the normal temperature water, all purpose flour in the bowl and mix it very well with a whisk.
  • Then, put the normal temperature water, sugar, ghee, saffron threads, rose water, cardamom powder in the nonstick pan and cook it for 5 minutes.
  • Then, pour the flour and water mixture into the pan and mix it very well with a whisk.
  • Then, cook the flour and water mixture on medium-low heat until the mixture becomes thick.
  • Then, asida will be made.
  • Lastly, serve this asida with ghee and cardamom powder.

Note: We have to stir all the ingredients continuously when cooking.

Omani Asida Recipe

Omani asida is also sweet dish. So the recipe of this sweet dish is-

  1. All purpose flour ( 1 cup )
  2. Normal temperature water ( 5 cup )
  3. Date molasses ( 1/2 cup+1 tbsp )
  4. Ghee ( 1/4 cup )
  5. Cardamom powder ( 1 tsp )
  • Firstly, put the normal temperature water, date molasses in the nonstick pan and cook it for 5 minutes.
  • Then, molasses water will be made.
  • Then, add the ghee, cardamom powder, all purpose flour to the molasses water and mix it very well with a whisk.
  • Then, cook the flour and molasses water mixture until it becomes thick.
  • Then, asida will be made.
  • Lastly, serve this asida with ghee.

Note: We have to stir all the ingredients continuously when cooking.

Yemeni Asida Recipe

Yemeni asida is a hot asida that is eaten with different types of Yemeni stew broth or zoum ( Yemeni spicy buttermilk ) and sahawiq ( Yemeni salsa ). So the recipe of this dish is-

  1. All purpose flour ( 1 cup )
  2. Normal temperature water ( 2.5 cup + 2 tbsp )
  3. Salt
  • Firstly, put the normal temperature water, salt in the nonstick pan and boil it for 5 minutes.
  • Then, add the all purpose flour to the boiled water and mix it very well with a wooden spatula.
  • Then, cook the flour and boiled water mixture on medium low heat for 7 minutes.
  • Then, asida will be made.
  • Lastly, serve this asida with zoum and sahawiq.

Note: We have to stir all the ingredients continuously when cooking.
