Vegetarian Ashak Recipe

Ashak is Afghan dumpling. It is a little bit different from other countries’ dumplings. Ashak is made in two ways- vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The cooking process of vegetarian ashak is easier than non-vegetarian ashak. Besides, it is more hot and spicy than other countries dumpling. So the Afghan hot and spicy vegetarian ashak recipe is-

Ingredients

  1. Round wheat flour dumpling wrappers ( 2 packets )
  2. Leek ( 2 and 1/2 bunch )
  3. Green chilli ( 2 )
  4. Garlic powder ( 1 tsp )
  5. Onion powder ( 1 tsp )
  6. Coriander leaves ( 1 and 1/2 cups )
  7. Chilli flakes ( 1 tbsp )
  8. Coriander seeds powder ( 1 and 1/2 tbsp )
  9. Ground black pepper ( 1 and 1/2 tsp )
  10. Sunflower oil ( 3 tbsp )
  11. Tomato puree ( 1 can )
  12. Yogurt ( 1 and 1/2 cup )
  13. Salt ( 2 tsp or as your taste )
  14. Dry mint

Methods

  • Firstly, put the tomato puree, sunflower oil, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, ground black pepper, coriander seeds powder in the pan and cook it for 3 minutes.
  • Then, tomato sauce will be made for ashak.
  • Then, cut the leeks, green chili and coriander leaves into small pieces.
  • Then, add the coriander powder, chili flakes, sunflower oil, salt and ground black pepper to the cut vegetables and mix it very well.
  • Then, put the vegetables on the dumpling wrapper.
  • Then, put the dumpling wrapper in the dumpling maker.
  • Then, the dumpling wrapper should be shaped into an ashak or dumpling using a dumpling maker.
  • Then, ashaks will be made.
  • Then, boil the water.
