Harees is an Arabian dish that is made with wheat berries ( peeled wheat ), meat and spice. It is a popular dish in most of the Middle East countries. It is not only a popular dish in Middle east countries but also in some Asian countries. Each country cooks this dish differently. This dish is eaten by Muslim people on some special religious days like- Sawm (fasting ), Eid, and Ashura. Besides the cooking process of this Emariti harees is very easy. So the recipe of Emirati harees is-

Ingredients

  1. Wheat berries / Peeled wheat ( 1/2 kg )
  2. Boneless mutton ( 1. 5 kg )
  3. Cardamom powder ( 1.5 tsp )
  4. Water ( 2.5 liters )
  5. Ghee or olive oil ( 1/4 cup )
  6. Salt ( 1.5 tsp or as your taste )
Methods
  • Firstly, soak the wheat berries in the water for 8 hours.
  • Then, cut the mutton into small pieces.
  • Then, put the mutton and water in the pan and cook it for 15 minutes.
  • Then, add the wheat berries, cardamom powder, salt to the pan and cook it until the mutton, wheat berries are cooked completely.
  • Then, harees will be made.
  • Then, blend the harees with a hand blender.
  • Lastly, serve the harees with ghee or olive oil.
