Yemeni Fahsa Recipe

Fasha is a Yemeni stew that is made with different types of meats, vegetables and spices. It is the most popular and traditional dish in Yemen. Yemeni people eat this dish with rice or bread. It is eaten as dinner or launch dish. Fahsa is also called Salta. So the Yemeni fahsa recipe is-

Ingredients

  1. Lamb meat ( 1 and 1/2 kg )
  2. Onion ( 1 )
  3. Tomatoes ( 5 )
  4. Green Onions ( 3 )
  5. Coriander leaves ( 1 and 1/2 cup )
  6. Garlic paste ( 2 tbsp )
  7. Garlic cloves ( 3 )
  8. Green chilli ( 5 )
  9. Fenugreek powder ( 1 and 1/2 tbsp )
  10. Turmeric powder ( 1 tsp )
  11. Cumin seeds ( 1 and 1/2 tsp )
  12. Coriander seeds ( 1 and 1/2 tsp )
  13. Cardamoms ( 5 )
  14. Cinnamon sticks ( 7 )
  15. Cloves ( 7 )
  16. Black peppercorn ( 1 and 1/2 tbsp )
  17. Sunflower oil ( 1 and 1/2 cup )
  18. Hot water ( 16 cup )
  19. Normal temperature water ( 1 cup )
  20. Lemon juice ( 1 tbsp )
  21. Salt ( 1 tbsp or as your taste )

Methods

  • Firstly, cut the onion, tomatoes, green onions and coriander leaves into small pieces.
  • Then, blend the tomato pieces, garlic clove, and green chili with a blender or food processor.
  • Then, tomato paste will be made.
  • Then, blend the coriander leaves, garlic clove, green chili with a blender or food processor.
  • Then, green salsa will be made.
  • Then, blend the tomato, coriander leaves, green chilli, and garlic with a blender or food processor.
  • Then, red salsa will be made for topping.
  • Then, soak the fenugreek powder in the normal temperature water for 20 minutes.
  • Then, strain the soaked fenugreek with a strainer.
  • Then, mix the soaked fenugreek with a hand mixer.
  • Then, put the fenugreek paste in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  • Then, again mix the fenugreek paste with a hand mixer until it becomes foamy texture.
  • Then, add the green salsa, lemon juice to the foamy fenugreek paste and mix it very well with a spoon.
  • Then, fenugreek paste is ready for the topping of the stew.
  • Then, grind the cumin seeds, coriander seeds, cardamoms, cinnamon sticks, and black peppercorn with a grinder.
  • Then, spice powder will be made.
  • Then, put the sunflower oil, onion, tomato pieces, lamb meat, tomato paste, turmeric powder, spice powder, salt, coriander leaves in the pan and cook it for 5 minutes.
  • Then, add the hot water to the pan and cook it for 2 hours.
  • Then, shred the lamb meat by hand.
  • Then, again put the sunflower oil, green onion, shredded lamb meat, spice powder in another pan and cook it for 10 minutes.
  • Then, add the stew broth to the pan and cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Then, fahsa will be made.
  • Lastly, serve this delicious fahsa with fenugreek paste and red salsa.

  • Then, strain the soaked fenugreek with a strainer.

  • Then, add the hot water, zucchini pieces, bell pepper pieces to the pan and cook it for 25 minutes.
  • Then, shred the chicken by hand.
  • Then, again put the sunflower oil, green onion, shredded chicken, spice powder in another pan and cook it for 10 minutes.
  • Then, add the stew broth to the pan and cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Then, fahsa will be made.
  • Lastly, serve this delicious and healthy chicken fahsa with fenugreek paste and green salsa.
