Al Makhtoum Recipe

Al makhtoum is a spicy paste that is made with date, nuts, spices and olive oil. It is a Palestinian dish. It is not only a Palestinian dish but also it is an Egyptian dish. It is also called Al hawaij and Al muftaqa. It is eaten with bread. It is so much beneficial for our bodies. It increases energy, memory and fertility of our bodies. So we provided the Palestinian al makhtoum recipe that will help to cook this beneficial dish.

  1. Dates ( 3 cups )
  2. Almond nuts ( 1/2 cup )
  3. Cashew nuts ( 1/3 cup )
  4. Pistachio nuts ( 1/3 cup )
  5. Walnut ( 1/3 cup )
  6. Nigella seeds ( 1/4 cup )
  7. Sesame seeds ( 1/3 cup )
  8. Olive oil ( 3 cup )
  9. Ground fennel seeds ( 1 tsp )
  10. Ground anise ( 1/2 tsp )
  11. Cinnamon powder ( 1 tsp )
  12. Ground coriander seeds ( 1 tsp )
  13. Date molasses ( 2 cups )
  • Firstly, soak the dates in the water for 1 hour.
  • Then, remove the seeds from the dates.
  • Then, cut the dates into small pieces.
  • Then, put the olive oil, almond, cashew, pistachio, walnut, sesame seeds, nigella seeds, ground fennel seeds, ground anise, cinnamon powder, ground coriander seeds in the frying pan and cook it for 3 minutes.
  • Then, put the olive oil, date molasses, dates in another pan and cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Then, add the cooked nuts to the pan and cook it for 4 minutes.
  • Lastly, serve this healthy and delicious al makhtoum with bread.

Note: We have to stir all the ingredients continuously when cooking.

Egyptian Al Makhtoum Recipe

Egyptian al makhtoum is little bit different from Palestinian al makhtoum. It is called al muftaqa in Egypt. So the recipe of this dish is-

  1. Peanuts (1.5 cup )
  2. Sunflower oil ( 3 cup )
  3. All purpose flour ( 3 tbsp )
  4. Fenugreek powder ( 2 tbsp )
  5. Moghat powder ( 1 tsp )
  6. Sesame seeds ( 1 cup )
  7. Black honey or Grape molasses ( 5 cups )
  8. Lemon juice ( 1 tsp )
  • Firstly, put the sunflower oil, all purpose flour in the pan and cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Then, add the sesame seeds, peanuts to the pan and cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Then, again add the grape molasses, fenugreek powder, moghat powder and lemon juice to the pan and cook it for 4 minutes.
  • Lastly, serve this delicious al makhtoum with bread.

Note: We have to stir all the ingredients continuously when cooking.

Al Makhtoum Recipe With Sugar

The authentic al makhtoum is made with molasses or honey. But if we don’t have molasses or honey at home, then we can make the al makhtoum with sugar. So the recipe of this dish is-

  1. Peanuts (1.5 cup )
  2. Walnut ( 0.5 cup )
  3. Sunflower oil ( 3 cup )
  4. All purpose flour ( 3 tbsp )
  5. Fenugreek powder ( 2 tbsp )
  6. Sesame seeds ( 1 cup )
  7. Brown sugar ( 4 cups )
  8. Water ( 7 cups )
  9. Lemon juice ( 1 tsp )

Methods

  • Firstly, put the brown sugar, water in the pan and cook it for 4 minutes.
  • Then, add the all purpose flour, sesame seeds, peanuts, walnuts to the pan and cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Then, again add the fenugreek powder, sunflower oil, lemon juice to the pan and cook it for 4 minutes.
  • Lastly, serve this al makhtoum.

Note: We have to stir all the ingredients continuously when cooking.
