Sudanese Tamiya Recipe

Tamiya is a patty that is made with chickpeas, spices and vegetables. It is also called falafel. So we can say it Sudanese falafel. It is a famous dish in Sudan. Sudanese people eat tamiya with Sudanese bread and salad. So the Sudanese tamiya recipe is-

  1. Chickpeas ( 1 cup )
  2. Onion ( 1 )
  3. Garlic cloves ( 4 )
  4. Dill leaves ( 1/4 cup )
  5. Ground black pepper ( 1 tsp )
  6. Cumin powder ( 1 tsp )
  7. Chilli powder ( 1 tsp )
  8. Turmeric powder ( 1 tsp )
  9. All purpose flour ( 3 tbsp )
  10. Baking powder ( 1 tsp )
  11. Salt ( 1 tsp or as your taste )
  • Firstly, soak the chickpeas in the water for 12 hours.
  • Then, strain the soaked chickpeas with the strainer.
  • Then, put the strained chickpeas, onion, garlic cloves, dill leaves in the food processor bowl and blend it with a food processor.
  • Then, add the ground black pepper, cumin powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder, all purpose flour, baking powder, salt to the blended chickpeas and mix it very well with your hand.
  • Then, put the chickpeas in the falafel maker to shape the tamiya.
  • Then, tamiyas will be made.
  • Then, deep fry the tamiyas with the oil.
  • Lastly, serve this tamiyas with bread and salad.

Baked Sudanese Tamiya Recipe

Baked tamiya is oil free for that reason it is healthy for our body. So the recipe of this healthy Sudanese tamiya is-

  10. Baking powder ( 1 tsp )
