Dizi Recipe

Dizi is a Persian meat stew that is made with different types of meats, lentils and spices. Dizi is the most popular and traditional dish in Iran. Dizi is also called abgoosht. Persian people eat this dish with different types of Persian breads like- sangak bread, barbari bread, taftoon bread, shrimal bread etc. It is also eaten with pita bread and naan bread. So the dizi recipe is-

Ingredients

  1. Lamb stew meat ( 2 kg )
  2. Canned chickpeas ( 1 )
  3. Grapeseed oil ( 1/3 cup )
  4. Onions ( 2 )
  5. Potatoes ( 5 )
  6. Tomatoes ( 3 )
  7. Garlic cloves ( 3 )
  8. Tomato paste ( 3 tbsp )
  9. Dried Lemons ( 4 )
  10. Green chillies ( 5 )
  11. Turmeric powder ( 1 tsp )
  12. Ground black pepper ( 1 tsp )
  13. Water ( 16 cups )
  14. Salt ( 1 tbsp or as your taste )

Methods

  • Firstly, cut the onions into small pieces.
  • Then, remove the potatoes’ skin and keep the potatoes aside.
  • Then, put the grapeseed oil, lamb stew meat, onion, whole tomatoes, garlic cloves, tomato paste, green chilies, turmeric powder, ground black pepper, salt, water in the pan and cook it for 1 hour.
  • Then, add the chickpeas, whole potatoes, dried lemons in the pan and cook it until the potatoes and lamb meat are cooked perfectly.
  • Lastly, serve the dizi with Persian bread or pita bread.

Dizi Bozbash Recipe

Bozbzsh dizi is another type of dizi that is very delicious. So the recipe of this dish is-

Ingredients

  1. Lamb stew meat ( 2 kg )
  2. Canned kidney beans ( 1 )
  3. Grapeseed oil ( 1/3 cup ) ( for cooking )
  4. Onions ( 2 )
  5. Potatoes ( 5 )
  6. Dried Lemons ( 4 )
  7. Parsley ( 1 cup )
  8. Leek ( 1/2 cup )
  9. Fenugreek leaves ( 1 tbsp )
  10. Turmeric powder ( 1 tsp )
  11. Ground black pepper ( 1 and 1/2 tbsp )
  12. Water ( 16 cups )
  13. Salt ( 1 tbsp or as your taste )

Methods

  • Firstly, cut the onions into small pieces.
  • Then, remove the potatoes’ skin and keep the potatoes aside.
  • Then, fry the parsley, leek and fenugreek leaves for 2 minutes.
  • Then, put the grapeseed oil, lamb stew meat, onion, turmeric powder, ground black pepper, salt, water in the pan and cook it for 1 hour.
  • Then, add the kidney beans, whole potatoes, dried lemons, fried leaves in the pan and cook it until the potatoes and lamb meat are cooked perfectly.

Ingredients

  1. Chicken drumsticks and thighs ( 1 kg )
  2. Boiled yellow split peas ( 1 cup )
  3. Grapeseed oil ( 1/3 cup )
  4. Onions ( 2 )
  5. Potatoes ( 5 )
  6. Dried Lemons ( 2 )
  7. Tomato paste ( 3 tbsp )
  8. Turmeric powder ( 1 tsp )
  9. Ground black pepper ( 1 and 1/2 tbsp )
  10. Ground savory ( 1 tsp )
  11. Water ( 12 cups )
  12. Salt ( 1 tbsp or as your taste )

Methods

  • Firstly, cut the onions into small pieces.
