Ottoman Sherbet Recipe

Sherbet is a Turkish fruit juice that is made with different types of fruits, sugar and water. Ottoman Empire kings used to drink this sherbet that’s why this is called Ottoman sherbet. Turkish people drink this sherbet in the Ramadan month and summer season. So we provided an Ottoman sherbet recipe that will help to make this ancient sherbet.

Ingredients

  1. Cherries ( 500 grams )
  2. Plums ( 200 grams )
  3. Grapes ( 300 grams )
  4. Lemon slice ( 1 )
  5. Water ( 2 liters )
  6. Sugar ( 1/3 cup or as your taste )
  7. Cinnamon sticks ( 2 )
  8. Cloves ( 1 )
  9. Ice cubes
Methods
  • Firstly, put the cherries, plums, grapes, cinnamon sticks, cloves, water in the pan and boil it for 30 minutes.
  • Then, strain the fruit juice with a strainer.
  • Then, press the boiled fruit with a wooden spatula to get more juice.
  • Then, add the lemon slice and sugar in the fruit juice.
  • Then, again cook the fruit juice for 5 minutes.
  • Then, Ottoman sherbet will be made.
  • Then, again strain the Ottoman sherbet with a strainer and put it in a glass pitcher.
  • Then, cool down the Ottoman sherbet.
  • Lastly, serve this Ottoman sherbet with ice cubes.

  1. Peaches ( 6 )
  2. Cinnamon sticks ( 1 )

  2. Lemon ( 3 )

  4. Dried pomegranate flower ( 1 tbsp )

  7. Black cumin seeds/ Nigella ( 1/4 tsp )
