Original Tharid Recipe

Thaird is like stew that is made with different types of meat and vegetables. It is an Arabic dish. It is the most popular dish in most Middle East countries. Middle east people eat this dish during Ramadan month for iftar. It is one of the favorite dishes of the Muslim prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SA). So we provided the original tharid recipe that will help to cook tharid perfectly.

Ingredients

  1. Lamb meat ( 1 and 1/2 kg )
  2. Carrots (2)
  3. Potatoes ( 2 )
  4. Zucchinis ( 3 )
  5. Bell peppers ( 2 )
  6. Tomatoes ( 2 )
  7. Tomato paste ( 2 tbsp )
  8. Whole dried lemon ( 3 )
  9. Olive oil ( 1/4 cup )
  10. Onion ( 2 )
  11. Garlic ( 1 )
  12. Ginger ( 1/2 )
  13. Turmeric powder ( 1 tsp )
  14. Cinnamon ( 4 )
  15. Cardamom ( 3 )
  16. Cumin seeds ( 1 tsp )
  17. Coriander seeds ( 1 tsp )
  18. Cloves ( 5 )
  19. Bay leaves ( 2 )
  20. Ground black pepper ( 1 tsp )
  21. Coriander powder ( 1 tsp )
  22. Green chili ( 4 )
  23. Hot water ( 14 cups )
  24. Salt ( 1 tsp or as your taste )

Methods

  • Firstly, cut the lamb meat, onions, carrots, potatoes, zucchinis, bell peppers, green chillies and tomatoes into small pieces.
  • Then, grate the ginger with a grater.
  • Then, mince the garlic with a garlic press.
  • Then, grind the cinnamon, cardamom, cumin seed, coriander seed, cloves, and bay leaves with a spice grinder.
  • Then, spice powder will be made for tharid.
  • Then, put the olive oil, onion, garlic, ginger, tomato, lamb meat, turmeric powder, spice powder, ground black pepper, coriander powder, dried lemon, tomato paste, green chili, salt in the pan and cook it for 5 minutes.
  • Then, add water to the pan and cook it for 35 minutes.
  • Then, add the other vegetables to the pan and cook them until the vegetables, lamb meat are cooked completely.
  • Lastly, serve this healthy tharid with tandoori bread or rigag bread.
