Puli Pitha Recipe

Puli pitha is a Bangladeshi dish that is made with rice flour, finely shredded coconut and jaggery or sugar. It is one of the most popular Bangladeshi dishes. It is also a popular dish in some areas of India. Bangladeshi people eat this dish in the winter season as a breakfast dish. So the puli pitha recipe is-

  1. Rice flour ( 1.5 cup )
  2. Water ( 2 cup )
  3. Finely shredded coconut ( 1 cup )
  4. Jaggery pieces ( 1 cup )
  5. Ghee ( 2 tbsp )
  6. Cardamoms ( 2 )
  7. Cinnamon sticks ( 2 )
  8. Salt ( 1/2 tsp or as your taste )
  • Firstly, heat a jaggery bar in the microwave oven for 1 minute.
  • Then, cut the jaggery bar into small pieces.
  • Then, put the ghee, cardamoms, cinnamon sticks, jaggery pieces, finely shredded coconut in the nonstick frying pan and cook it until the jaggery water is dried out completely.
  • Then, puli pitha filling will be made.
  • Then, put the water and salt in the pan and boil it.
  • Then, add the rice flour to the boiled water and mix it very well with a wooden spatula.
  • Then, close the lid of the pan and cook the rice dough for 5 minutes on low heat.
  • Then, put the rice dough in the bowl and keep the rice dough aside for 3 minutes.
  • Then, knead the warm rice dough with your hand very well.
  • Then, make the rice dough into medium thin small flatbreads .
  • Then, put the puli pitha filling on the small flatbread.
  • Then, put the small flatbread in the dumpling maker.
  • Then, the small flatbread should be shaped into a puli pitha using a dumpling maker.
  • Then, puli pitha will be made.
  • Then, steam the the puli pithas with a steamer for 10 minutes.
  • Lastly, serve this healthy and delicious puli pithas.

Dudh Puli Pitha Recipe

Dudh puli pitha/ Milk puli pitha is more delicious than steamed puli pitha. So the recipe of this dish is-

  1. Rice flour ( 1.5 cup )
  2. Water ( 2 cup )
  3. Finely shredded coconut ( 1 cup )
  4. Jaggery pieces ( 1.5 cup )
  5. Ghee ( 2 tbsp )
  6. Liquid milk ( 5 cups )
  7. Milk powder ( 2 tbsp )
  8. Cardamoms ( 4 )
  9. Salt ( 1/2 tsp or as your taste )
  • Firstly, heat jaggery bar in the microwave oven for 1 minute.
  • Then, cut the jaggery bar into small pieces.
  • Then, put the ghee, cardamoms, milk powder, jaggery pieces, finely shredded coconut in the nonstick frying pan and cook it until the jaggery water is dried out completely.
  • Then, puli pitha filling will be made.

Vaja Puli Pitha Recipe

Vaja puli pitha recipe/ Fried puli pitha recipe is another delicious puli pitha recipe. So the recipe of this dish is-

  2. All purpose flour ( 3 tbsp )
  3. Water ( 2 cup + 1 tbsp )
  4. Finely shredded coconut ( 1 cup )
  5. Jaggery pieces ( 1 cup )
  6. Ghee ( 2 tbsp )
  7. Milk powder ( 2 tbsp )
  8. Cardamoms ( 2 )
  9. Salt ( 1/2 tsp or as your taste )
